Model Adoption Kit binder, plus A Roadmap for Puppy Breeding Success, Samples of Correspondence with Puppy Buyers, and 20 separate articles on topics important for new puppy breeders.
All the references you need in one place, including the famous Puppy Culture Workbook, a complete set of Myra Savant Harris's invaluable practical manuals, the Dog Breeders Professional Secrets, Dr. Ian Dunbar's Before & After Getting Your Puppy (which I urged all my buyers to study before adoption day), and all the other useful materials you see here.
Small bin with instruments for clamping, tying off, cutting and sanitizing the umbilical cord, plus syringes for clearing the throat and nasal passages. Instructions are included for assessing the newborn. A list of common whelping medications and their purposes is also included.
These pads are used in the whelping pools during and after the birthing process. They are absorbent with a plastic backing and are machine washable.
Two plastic whelping pools with "pig rails" to prevent your dams from smothering the newborns and infant puppies. Also shown is a smaller pool that I used when the puppies were old enough to play outside. With no more than two inches of water it allowed them to get their feet wet and play safely. They loved it!
The warming box includes a fleece bumper pad, thermostatically-controlled heating pad and extension code. It's used to warm newborns who are stressed or who show signs of being cold.
This bin contains nipple bottles, feeding tubes and syringes for supplemental feeding when puppies need this assistance. Also included are tube feeding instructions.
This bin includes a variety of handy"first aid" supplies, some of which supplement the whelping kit. Included are an ear thermometer and a digital rectal thermometer, ointments, alcohol pads, and a selection of syringes and needles.
Refillable oxygen tank (more than half full) with gauge to control flow, tubing, and clear dome.
This baby scale weighs puppies from newborn to adoption day. It measures in pounds and ounces or in metric units, with capacity up to 25 pounds. It has a large readout and a hold button. It is easy to use. The power supply and instruction manual are included.
Microchips allow vets and shelters to re-home lost dogs. Included are eight pre-loaded microchip syringes, a rechargeable microchip reader with protective bag, and instructions. Microchipping your puppies is optional.
These 24" by 24" exercise pen sections (with gates) are used indoors to create litter pens, and outside to define play areas. Shown above are a sample of the pen sections, ground stakes, and connectors. The startup kit includes 43 sections.
These water bottles (shown upside down) attach easily to the litter pens and allow the puppies to drink without placing open water bowls in the pens.
Fleece bumper pads are useful for puppy play and sleeping. The puppy-size Kong toys encourage the puppies to amuse themselves with the kind of self-feeder they may use as adults. Also shown are a few microfiber towels and blankets.
Newborn puppies are each assigned a color and identified with a soft elastic band collar. At about four weeks they graduate to a break-away puppy collar of the same color.
Aprons (three are included) protect your clothes during whelping and when handling newborns. Also shown are a few diapers for dams to wear when in heat (to prevent blood spots on your floor), a few absorbent pee pads, some green apple spray to discourage chewing, and a 3-hole punch for your paperwork and files.
The large stainless "flying saucer" bowls are essential for litter feeding. The black and blue utility bowls are plastic. The removable stainless bowls in the metal stand may be useful for your adult dogs.
This sturdy, collapsible grooming table has many other uses. I used it most often (without the restraint arm) for the scale when weighing my puppies. I moved the scale and table next to the litter pen and weighed the puppies one at a time, charting their weights and calculating the changes from day to day.
The startup kit includes two of these low beds with sturdy washable fabric. The puppies adored played on and under them, and your adult dogs may like them, too. Also shown are a variety of harnesses, leashes, treat bags and small dog collars.
This travel crate can accommodate quite a few puppies or one medium size dog for trips to the vet or for other purposes. It measures 19" high by 20 inches wide by 27 inches long.
Two large collapsible dog crates may be used for puppy play and crate training, or as refuges for your adult dogs. They measure 42 inches long by 28 inches wide by 30.5 inches high, and both include a plastic bottom tray to hold a fleece or padded dog bed (not included).
These two tippy chairs were puppy favorites during play time in the litter pens. While having fun, the puppies became conditioned to sudden movements and changes in position.
Puppies enjoy a variety of toys, and changes in their selection. A litter needs toys for everyone, as wells as toys to compete for.
These collapsible fabric tunnels were outdoor favorites. You will get a big kick out of watching your five- to eight-week old puppies go through, under and over these tunnels in rambunctious play.
Another outdoor favorite. Puppies never got to the upper level, but many tried going up the slippery slide. Most enjoyed hiding inside on the ground level to ambush their litter mates, or resting in the shade under the slide.
The rocker board conditions the puppies to wobbly and unsteady surfaces. It works best on a hard floor or patio.
Puppies use the low table for climbing up, competing with their litter mates, and lying in the shade with their companions.
The hinged ramps and bridge provide a variety of surfaces to challenge the coordination of young puppies, and falling off is part of the fun.
These five winter coats are appropriate for medium-size dogs, and will help protect them during winter walks. The tote bag holds all five coats and is useful for many other purposes.
This is one of four identical litter boxes included in the startup kit. Put a sheet of kraft paper (a roll is included) in the bottom, and cover that with several sheets of newspaper (not included) for absorbency. The hinged grate gives you access to roll up the kraft paper with newspaper and waste contained inside, and the whole thing may be hosed down.
